Taste Helps to Change the Lives of Children

Following a survey to determine what type of charity the Taste Holdings Team would prefer to support, the decision to find a suitable children’s charity was undoubtedly a unanimous one. Extensive research led Taste to The Just Footprints Foundation (JFF), an organization which includes children’s charities CHOC, Reach for a Dream, Cotlands and the Ithemba Trust- all extremely worthwhile.

JFF is a registered non-profit organization that was founded in February 2008 specifically to meet the need for a unique outdoor campaign experience that would provide safe and secure adventures for children with serious health and life challenges. “The vision for JFF is to provide a special journey of life-changing experiences for every child, which will leave an imprint on their hearts with hope for the future. In turn each child leaves an imprint of their footprint at the camp in support of those who will follow,” explains Michelle Voges, Manager of this CSI project.

JFF provides a unique opportunity for the children to experience an amazing life-changing adventure and learn new skills, develop confidence and enhance their self-esteem in a supportive camp environment – it is a place where physical risks are managed appropriately and participants are cared for emotionally.

The first JFF camp, sponsored by Taste Holdings, was hosted for 50 orphaned children. The camp, which took place from 5th – 7th November 2010, proved to be an absolute success amongst the children, as well as Taste employees and their families who were invited to join in the activities on Saturday. In addition to the regular fun-filled activities arranged throughout the weekend, the children also got to enjoy Maxi’s burgers, participate in a Scooters Pizza building competition and stand a chance of winning watches sponsored by NWJ.

“Being involved with the JFF camp last year was a remarkable experience and one that all members of the team are looking forward to again. Being involved with an organization like this enables us to see first-hand the positive difference that we are able to make in children’s lives-it is extremely rewarding. In 2011 there will be a Taste/Scooters Pizza camp in September and a Taste/Maxi’s camp in November, “confirms Voges.
