Its a bit early this year but once again we do our annual pilgrimage to SANI PASS.

FNB KZN staff and First Rand Bank reached out to CHOC Durban and sponsored 40 pairs of pajamas; gloves and beanies for winter. The staffed also contributed to our CHOC SHOP.

CHOC Corporate Relay – Cape Town, 29 November 2012

LACE UP AND SUPPORT A GOOD CAUSE

Corporates are being encouraged to lace up and show their support for the CHOC Corporate Relay, which takes place from Central Park, Century City on Thursday 29 November at 17h30. The event consists of five runners per team with each one completing a 3km lap around the scenic Intaka Island wetlands area in Century City. Runners can enter their teams online at http://www.graniteevents.co.za/. Entries close on Tuesday 20 November or as soon as 400 team entries are received.

CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA is the primary beneficiary of this event and corporates are encouraged to support their fundraising initiatives. Financial services company Macquarie Group is the first to get behind the event through offering sponsorship, as well as entering teams to take part. Teams will need to register and collect their numbers from Central Park on race day from 11h00 to 16h00 and are encouraged to dress up, as prizes will be awarded for the best team costumes. The event promises to deliver a great team building opportunity for companies with corporate hospitality areas and live bands The Professors and Paradigm Live.

We are very happy to announce the new NUK / CHOC Initiative!

The #NUK/CHOC initiative hits the baby stores! With the discovery of the carcinogenic effects of BPA (Bisphenol A) during tests conducted on mice and the relatively low awareness around this issue, NUK Brand Manager, Caroline Watson, felt it was really important to find a way to educate mothers on the harmful effects of BPA. Ms Watson says …” With more awareness and education, parents can be equipped with the skills to identify cancer pointers in the early stages and early diagnosis is very important to successful treatment of any childhood cancer”.

At the recently held Africa Print show, Konica Minolta South Africa put the printed material generated during its daily production hour, which showcased its full production line of digital equipment printing material from start to finish, to very good use.

The company produced high quality printed material for CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa over the three days of the show, ultimately delivering 1 920 brochures (A3 double sided – 200gsm gloss), 11 520 DL flyers (double sided – 170gsm gloss), 1 840 posters (A3 – 170gsm gloss), 18 000 business cards (300gsm matt) and 4 500 letterheads (trimmed to A4 – 80gsm Bond) to the foundation on the final day.

Says Leon Minnie, product manager: production systems at Konica Minolta South Africa: “Our mission at this year’s Africa Print show was not just to distribute ‘pretty pictures’, as this results in a huge amount of wastage, and as general practice at these shows, provides print clients with very little information of the machine’s real ability and true quality. We decided rather to find an alternative method to demonstrate our quality of equipment, while also using it for a worthy cause, and providing the type of material that could be used by the organisation well into the future. CHOC was in great need of marketing collateral, and we felt that this would be a very valuable project with which to assist. By publicly demonstrating our complete belief in our products, this idea also highlighted that Konica Minolta South Africa is committed to both innovation and the requirements of the printing industry.”

Adré and Nastassia from Gosh4cancer reached out and did a ‘Stock up 4 CHOC’ Pretoria. Much needed groceries and household items where collected and delivered to the CHOC house Pretoria. They even have the T-shirt to show their dedication for the children and their families that CHOC assists.
