CHOC HOUSE PRETORIA DAY TO DAY RUNNING COSTS Statistics: Sleeps 12 = 360 bed occupation | averaging over a month is 6 head count per night = 180 bed occupation and 540 meals over 30 days
Monthly Groceries – Families stay at the CHOC house during treatments at no cost (no perishable items.)
Monthly Household Cleaning Chemicals The hygiene of the CHOC house is extremely important as the children staying with us are on chemotherapy and have a compromised immune system and are prone to infections. (Washing powder, staysoft, handy Andy, Carlton Roll, hand wash, toilet disinfectant, jik, Dishwashing liquid, general disinfectants, etc)
Food parcels:  Many of our families struggle with the costs of having a sick child and can’t keep up with the basic needs. (Any no perishable items.)
Toiletries:  These items are given to the children at the hospital and the house as many of them do not have the means to get their own.  (Toothbrushes, bath soap, toothpaste, body cream, facecloths, toilet paper)
Monthly Running Cost:  Payment of Tshwane, Telkom, security and gardening Services.

CHOC DIVISIONAL OFFICE – PRETORIA (work on donations only)  
Air conditioner: The CHOC office is in a garage converted into office space (6 x 5.5) at the CHOC House.   The temperature most days in the summer averages at 32ºC in the office. STEVE BIKO PAEDIATRIC ONCOLOGY WARD

 

Sponsor a Room in Ward 1.1. –  We want to make the ward an environment where children will feel secure and help enhance their road to recovery. If you are interested we can discuss which room you would be keen on sponsoring. Designs and layouts have already been done we just need sponsorships to get the work done.

TV Live HD Media Player– DVD’s are used to keep the children entertained when they spend months in the hospital.  DVD’s and DVD machines do not last long in the ward full of children ranging from 1 to 18 years.  The media player will be locked and bolted in a ventilated casing and connected to the TV’s.  The DVD’s can be loaded onto the media player and the originals safely stored.  The remote is all that is required to access endless amount of entertainment that will always be part of the ward.

Recliners – 3 out patients rooms where parents spend hours sitting with the children (material that can be disinfected and easily cleaned).  Donated – Thank you!

Toys and educational Toys – The children spend long periods in the hospital, volunteers spend time with the children and assist in much needed stimulation. (Toys that can be washed)
